The PolySWAM Beta Program Is Now Open
The PolySWAM Beta Program is now open, a journey we'd like to share with you.
We are inviting musicians to test PolySWAM, share their experience, and contribute to its development.
PolySWAM was created to address a challenge we have been exploring for years.
From the very beginning, SWAM was deliberately designed as a monophonic instrument. Not because polyphony wasn't desirable, but because realism and expressive control had to come first.
Rather than changing SWAM, we began asking ourselves a different set of questions
- Could we create an entirely new instrument?
- Could we build a polyphonic instrument without introducing too many limitations compared with the experience and expressive control offered by SWAM instruments?
- Could we find the right balance between the expressiveness and performance realism of SWAM instruments and the possibilities offered by polyphony?
Those questions led to PolySWAM.
Developed together with Emanuele Ruffinengo, Latin GRAMMY Award-winning producer, arranger, and music technology expert, PolySWAM introduces a new approach to expressive polyphony.
Each instrument is generated individually by the original SWAM physical modeling engine, while new voicing algorithms determine how the notes played are distributed across the ensemble.
PolySWAM is designed around two primary needs: polyphonic orchestral sketching and live performance.
The Beta Program will allow musicians to explore the instrument in real musical contexts and help us understand how it should evolve.
We are proud of what PolySWAM already is, and even more interested in what it can become through this process.
Participants will also have access to a growing Knowledge Base covering PolySWAM’s philosophy, voicing algorithms, playing techniques, presets, system requirements, and more.
