PolySWAM Is Officially Out Now
Strike a chord.

After months of development, testing, feedback, and refinement through the Public Beta Program, PolySWAM reaches its official release.
It introduces a new approach to expressive polyphony, bringing the realism and responsiveness of SWAM physical modeling to chords, sections, and complete ensembles—all performed in real time from a single controller.
A Different Approach to Polyphony
From the beginning, SWAM instruments have been designed around deep expressive control and the physical behavior of real acoustic instruments.
PolySWAM takes that same philosophy into a dedicated polyphonic environment.
Rather than simply adding more voices to existing SWAM instruments, PolySWAM was designed as a complete instrument with its own performance logic, intelligent voice allocation, expressive controls, ensemble management, and acoustic environment.
The result is a workflow built around playing rather than programming.
Load a preset, put your hands on the controller, and perform chords, harmonies, independent lines, and complete ensemble arrangements in real time.
One Ensemble Under Your Fingers
A single PolySWAM preset can contain an entire acoustic ensemble.
Its internal algorithms analyze your performance and distribute notes across multiple SWAM engines while preserving musical phrasing, voice leading, and legato behavior.
PolySWAM can distinguish between melodic lines and chords, manage multiple articulations within the same performance, and dynamically allocate voices according to the way you play.
No endless articulation browsing. No complex multi-track orchestral template required.
Expression at the Center
PolySWAM remains deeply rooted in the expressive philosophy behind SWAM.
Velocity controls the initial attack behavior, while continuous Expression shapes the evolution of the sound.
The Conductor section gives you access to Macros and Action Buttons that can control parameters such as vibrato, bow behavior, timbre, articulations, mutes, and other preset-specific characteristics.
These controls can be mapped to pedals, faders, knobs, aftertouch, breath controllers, or other MIDI sources, allowing the ensemble to respond directly to your physical gestures.
More Than One Sound per Preset
PolySWAM Scenes allow different versions of the same ensemble to coexist within a preset.
Room acoustics, spatial positioning, mixer balance, EQ, and macro configurations can change without reloading the underlying instruments.
This makes it possible to move quickly between different sonic perspectives while keeping the same playable ensemble ready under your fingers.
Built for Different Musical Workflows
PolySWAM is designed for composers and producers who want to sketch orchestral ideas quickly without interrupting the creative process with keyswitches and extensive programming.
For live performers, it brings complete ensembles onto the stage from a single controller, with dynamics, articulations, and timbral changes available in real time.
For expressive players, it provides continuous control over the performance rather than relying on predetermined recordings.
And for teachers and students, it offers a direct way to explore orchestration, instrumentation, and arrangement using sounds generated according to the physical behavior of acoustic instruments.
PolySWAM and SWAM Solo Instruments
PolySWAM does not replace SWAM Solo Instruments.
They are designed for different parts of the workflow.
SWAM Solo Instruments provide detailed control over the individual performance of a single instrument, making them ideal when every voice needs to be shaped independently.
PolySWAM works at the ensemble level, prioritizing immediate polyphonic performance, orchestral sketching, and real-time interaction.
Together, they expand the Audio Modeling ecosystem from detailed individual performance to complete expressive ensembles.
Watch the Official PolySWAM Introduction
In the official PolySWAM video, Stefano Lucato, CEO of Audio Modeling, Emanuele Ruffinengo, music producer and technology expert, and Simone Capitani, CXO at Audio Modeling, introduce the instrument and explore the ideas, technology, and workflow behind it.
No Samples. No Prerecorded Performances. Just SWAM.
PolySWAM is powered by SWAM physical modeling technology.
The sound is generated in real time and continuously responds to the musician's performance rather than reproducing prerecorded articulations.
For orchestral sketching, composition, production, live performance, or simply the experience of playing a complete expressive ensemble from one controller, PolySWAM introduces a different way to interact with orchestral instruments.
